Nutrition is defined as the action , interaction and balance of nutrients in relation to health and disease. A nutritionist is a person who advises people on dietary matters relating to health, well-being, weight loss and optimal nutrition. Nutritionists can aid in raising awareness of risk factors in ones lifestyle and nutrition. A certified nutritionist should have a undergraduate or post graduate degree in the subject of nutrition.
In Singapore there is no statutory regulations governing the practice of nutrition and dietetics. A Nutritionist who is registered with the Singapore Nutrition and Dietetic Association (SNDA) will have had their qualifications checked and verified. Also, it is an advantage if the nutritionist have a proven track record, check testimonials provided by the nutritionist and ask to talk to a previous or current client if in doubt.
