The
first step is always the client evaluation questionnaire.
This establishes up front what the client expects
to achieve from the consultation. It also gives
the consultant a window into the client’s life so that suitable recommendations can be made. A plan is put in place at
this point.
When
Marti came to see me, she wanted to learn what
suited her as well as look stylish and professional
every day for work. She has a young toddler and
very little time on her hands in the morning. My
recommendation for Marti was a colour and style
consultation, a grooming session, a wardrobe audit
and a two hour shopping trip.
The
colour consultation session takes approximately
an hour and a half. The consultation involves a
foundation test to establish whether the skin is
warm or cool. From there, an eye examination is
conducted, this tells if the person is warm or
cool and also gives information on secondary seasonal
influences.

Finally
the draping test was conducted. Marti has winter colouring.
Winter colours clear up Marti’s complexion and make her look younger and healthier. When Marti wears winter
colours, her eyes also stand out more.
During
the 2 hours Style Analysis Session Marti was taught the
style’s of clothes and accessories that made the most of her body shape. She learnt
how to use detail, patterens, texture and colour to balance
her body. She also took away her Personal Style Portfolio
to study at home.
During
the grooming session, Marti was taught a day and
an evening make-up routine. The morning routine
takes just 7 minutes for a beautifully groomed
and natural look.
Marti
has a little more time before going out in the
evening so Moira, Face-Up’s very talented make-up artist showed Marti a 15 minute routine. Marti was delighted
with her glamorous look for going out in the
evening.
Next
stop for Marti, was a trip to the hairdressers.
Marti has very fine long hair. Taking Marti’s face shape, hair type and hectic lifestyle into account, a new hairstyle was
recommended.
Marti
was delighted with her new colour and style though
a little skeptical that she would be able to
achieve the results at home herself. I was glad
to hear a few weeks later that she was still
very happy with her cut and colour though she
assured me that the ‘salon’ look is not normally achieved on a daily basis.

Next
up for Marti, was a wardrobe audit. After an evaluation
of Marti’s wardrobe, we made a surprisingly small list of items required to fill in the
gaps. I showed Marti some new combinations and all the
items that had not been worn in a year were placed in
a box in the spare room. If Marti does not wear an item
from the box in the next three months then she has promised
she will donate the items to a charity.
Finally
we went on a shopping trip. Prior to the trip, we reviewed
the required items list and made a plan. We ended up
getting all the items on the list as well as a day and
evening outfit for an upcoming beach wedding that Marti
will be attending in the next month.
