Colour Trends for "Fall/Winter 07"

The colour trends for Fall/ Winter 2007 are rich and exotic with different tints, tones and shades of the same colours. You will be seeing a lot of peacock blue, teal, purple, wine, exotic greens and lemon.

The colours that are fashionable are most suited to Autumn colouring but even if Autumn is not your "season", there are many options you can play with.... This offers the opportunity for creativity with interesting and unexpected colour combinations!

1. Purple Wine

The ultimate expression of creativity, purple & wine broadens the appeal of purple for fashion. This colour is very strong and feminine. Looks great when teamed with grey. If this colour is too strong for you, a lavender would be a cooler variation, and you could wear the purple wine in shoes or a bag. Don't be afraid to experiment with this colour! Great shops for finding purple; Warehouse, Mango, Topshop.

2. Carafe

Deep espresso brown adds contrast to the palate. A more appealing variation of black. Keep this to a basic suit, skirt or dress and add contrast with a splash of moss green for a warm effect or pale rose for a cooler look. All shades of yellow will also look fabulous and stylish. Great shops for finding carafe; Zara, Warehouse.

3. Stargazer

Continues the trends of turquoise, but with deeper intensity. Think modern and dazzling, this gorgeous colour comes from the inspiration of sapphires. This colour, tends to look great on warm people, for those with a cooler palate should go with a dusky blue worn with pale pink or lemon yellow. Can be found; Topshop.

The greens you will see this season are very earthy and murky, they will have blue/gray undertones. This colour will very much compliment the deep purples and browns. A pastel mint green will look great on those who's season is cooler. Wear it in a jewelry accessory or bag with either shades of purple to add contrast.

5. Lemon Yellow

This colour will enliven any wardrobe. Can be easily mixed with greys and browns. A lot of people shy away from yellow, but it can be very complimentary to your skin tone if you know what season you are. For warmer seasons, steer towards the mustards and curry yellows. If you are a cooler season, Lemon and pastel yellow looks gorgeous. Again don't be afraid to try. Can be found; Mango, topshop, Zara. michaelkors07croc.jpg

6. Chili Pepper

This colour is spicy and exotic. It has a rich tone that lends a sense of warmth. This colour comes in and out of fashion and you don't see it very often, so a good option is to wear it in accessories. To play down this colour wear a more subdued rose, or pastel pink(Ideal for a person with cooler colouring). If you love to experiment with colour, this is a great opportunity for you to go beyond your boundaries. This will look stunning with white, creating a very fresh look. Can be found at Bebe, Mango.

7. Grey

Grey is still running strong for Fall/Winter and goes great with all of the above colours. Can be worn as a primary colour with any of the above as your secondary. Play with the darker and lighter shades of grey, a grey pair of shoes will tie in the outfit for a complete look. If you are a warm season, go for a shade darker and if you tend to be a cooler season, a pale grey will be complimentary.

Everybody can wear colour and knowing your colours is vital to looking great. So if you haven't 'done your colours' already, come in for a colour consultation and find out what season you are!!

Fabulous Eyebrows Now

We can't stress enough how important the role of eyebrows in your total look. By raising them or dropping them slightly, they completely alter your expression; from stern to surprised to perfectly serene. Eyebrows frame the face, so it is vitally important to keep them well groomed. The cleaner and more artfully shaped they are, the more open and uplifted your face looks. A properly shaped brow will give you the effect of an instant facelift!!!

WHAT GROOMING METHOD IS RIGHT FOR ME?

THREADING; This ancient practice is widely used in Asia. A strand of 100 percent cotton thread is twisted and pulled along a row of unwanted hair. This lifts hair from the follicle and usually lasts from 2-8 weeks. Similar to tweezing and is over very quickly. We recommend threading as it is more precise and speedy. We use; AISHA BEAUTY PARLOUR; 400 Orchard Rd, #04-09, Orchard Towers. Tel: 6735 0207.

WAXING; Hot or cold wax is spread over stray hairs, above and below and pulled off in one quick ripping motion. Waxing is more ideal for people with bushy eyebrows as it quickly de-fuzzes the area between your brows and near your temples. Lasts 2-8 weeks. To alleviate redness or swelling, press a clean washcloth dipped in ice water or a cotton ball soaked in witch hazel.

ELECTROLYSIS; An aesthetician inserts a needle with an electric current into one follicle at a time to zap it and prevent further growth. This procedure is very painful and last forever. We recommend you stay away from this method as it is very invasive.

DIY; Unless you know and have been plucking your eyebrows for years, it is better left to the professionals. As you don't have much to play with, one mistake and it can go haywire! A lot of people who do it themselves, don't actually realize the shape they are tending, is not the right for them. Never Over Pluck.

WHERE SHOULD MY BROW BEGIN AND END?

Place a pencil vertically along the right side of your nose, flush against your face, this is where your brow should begin. (repeat on the left side). To locate the outer edge of the brow, hold the pencil at the right side of your nose and align with the outer corner of your eye. This is wear your brow should end. (repeat on the left side) See diagram;

PENCIL V POWDER; Filled in eyebrows is a must for nighttime makeup. It will emphasize your overall look and set of your eye make-up. For those who like a dramatic look during the day, this is great as well. Pencil will be more defined a lot darker. It does contain a lot of wax so is not always ideal for the tropics.

Powder tends to be a lot softer and more natural looking. Apply with a firm brush tapping off excess powder and brush into brows with quick, short strokes. This method we recommend.

WHAT TO DO IF YOUR BROWS ARE OVERTWEEZED? Let them grow back! You may look a little untidy for a couple of weeks, but it is much needed. Then, visit a professional and get them done properly.

NEVER TATOO YOUR BROWS. YOU MAY START OFF WITH BLACK OR BROWN INK, BUT THEY WILL ALWAYS TURN BLUE.
