1. What
is a healthy weight loss per week?
A
healthy weight loss is 1-2 lbs (0.5-1kg) each week. Losing
weight faster than this can indicate a fad diet and it
will be difficult to maintain the weight loss in the
long term as the lbs will pile back on once you return
to old habits. A healthy diet plan focuses on changing
your eating habits long term as well as helping you reach
your ideal weight.
2. What
is the difference between the Individual Coach Approach
and the Weight Loss Management Group?
The
Individual Coach Approach is a 10 week one-on-one program
that includes a weekly weigh in and a discussion on
a nutritional program each week. A prescribed plan with menus is provided for you that is based on your body
weight, height and goals. It also includes daily motivation and support via email.
The
Weight Loss Management Group meets weekly and are recommended
for those who have followed a weight loss plan before. A weigh in and discussion on a nutritional topic each week is conducted in a
supportive environment.t
3. What
is a nutritionist and qualifications should a Nutritionist
have?
A
nutritionist is a person who advises people on dietary
matters relating to health, well-being, weight loss and
optimal nutrition. A qualified Nutritionist should have at a minimum an undergraduate or postgraduate
degree course majoring in a Nutrition subject. A nutitionist
should also have a track record t show that they have
had success with clients previously. Check the testimonials
provided by the nutritionist and ask to talk to a previous
or current client if in doubt.
4. Does
my age affect weight loss?
Age
does affect weight and weight loss/gain. The body's metabolism slows with age so fewer calories may be burned. Eating sensibly on a nutritional program and being active is the best way to
counter the slowdown of your metabolism.
5. What
am I required to do for the weight loss plan?
With
the Weight Loss Plan, you will be required to keep
a food diary and keep note of the calories as you
will be given a daily amount of calories to adhere
to, (based on your body weight, height and goals). Your food diary will have to be emailed each day to ensure you are keeping on
track. Healthy, tasty recipes will be provided based on your likes and dislikes. There is even a recipe with low calories for Lemon Meringue pie which no one
so far has differentiated from the original recipe!
6. Will
I still be able to socialize and eat out on the Weight
Loss Plan?
It
is possible to survive the Weight Loss Plan while
dining out. With the guidance you are given from "The Coach Approach", you will be in control and not be filled with panic and angst when socializing
with friends.
Planning
ahead and looking at the restaurant’s menu online, or calling them for a copy of the menu will help you think ahead about what choice of dishes will be
the most nutritional and healthiest. With the menu, go for the grilled, poached and steamed options and always ask
for the dressings to be served at the side. A good choice for desserts is sorbets and fruits, but always leave about 20
minutes for your food to digest before ordering.
Also,
having a light nutritional snack before you go out
will take the edge off hunger and stop you from over
indulging in entrees when entering the restaurant. While drinking is allowed on the Weight Loss Plan, alcoholic drinks are high
in calories and it is advised to have a big glass
of water in between each glass of wine, or having
a spritzer instead.
7. Do
I need to exercise in conjunction with the Weight
Loss Plan?
If
you're trying to lose weight, doing at least some sort
of exercise is a must, however this does not mean spending
hours at the gym. Just a brisk walk around the block will break down body fat in your body. Exercising also builds muscle, which burns calories even when you're resting. It is recommended to stay healthy to exercise for 30 minutes 3-5 days a week. Of course, any extra exercise you choose to do after this can contribute to
extra weight loss.
8. How
much does the two Nutritional programs that Nutri-Style
offers cost?
The
Individual Coach Approach costs S$850 for a 10-week
program. The Weight Loss Management Group is a S$15 per meeting with a S$200 joining
fee.
