Feeling
dispair, my clothes too tight and cannot shift those extra
pounds. Well, this is how I felt in January 2007. I reached
a point where I thought I would never be able to get back to
my ideal weight. After giving birth to my son Jack 2 and ½
years ago I was feeling embarrassed that I still hadn’t got
back in shape. Fad diets, irregular trips to the gym were obviously
not helping me achieve my goal – weight loss. I decided to
take active action and spent New Years day surfing the website.
Eventually, I came across “Nutri-Style”. What grabbed my attention
about the site was that there were real people experiencing
the same issues.
I think
for me actually enrolling and committing not only financially
but mentally on the programme gave me the kick start that I
needed. The consultative approach is personal and factual,
taking into considerations the lifestyle that you lead.
I didn’t
lead a totally unhealthy lifestyle, but I did need educating
on what was good for me and what to avoid. I found the food
diaries initially quite tiring (juggling a full time career
and being a mum) but persevered and after seeing the weekly
results realised it was paying off. I lost 9lbs in 10 weeks
which was for me a major achievement especially seeing the
grandparents were out for 5 weeks of that (they do like their
treats…).
I still
count up my daily intake in my head just to keep myself on
track – fingers crossed this will stay with me forever. Interestingly
enough, the food diaries showed that I wasn’t eating enough
during the day, but by the time I reached home I was raiding
the fridge for anything I could get my hands on. Now I have
my weight watchers bar at hand for emergencies when I’m out
and about – no excuse to hit the shops for a packet of crisps
anymore.
It is
still a little hard when the family are digging into their
icecreams or cookies but I’ve learnt to find alternatives.
Low fat biscuits, or jellys just to get the sugar kick I need.
So,
